Dear fellow diver,

My name is Roland Mauz, I own African Dive Adventures, a dive charter company in South Africa, approximately 160 km south of Durban. We dive the world renowned Protea Banks, a spectacular shark dive site. Before you, your friends, or your customers decide on a new diving destination, take a look at what South Africa has to offer.

Read our section about travel safety and you'll realise that South Africa is by now as safe a destination as any other country. But what we offer divers, nature and sun lovers is truly unique.

Not only is it mostly warm and sunny here (see temperatures) but our infra- structure in all aspects has reached first world standards. Our accommo- dation is luxurious and our shops, pubs and restaurants are first class. Yet our prices are so ridiculously cheap, that you can really spoil yourself and live like a king or queen for the entire duration of your holidays in South Africa.

Every book on world dive sites features Protea Banks. The reef is situated 8 km offshore from Shelly Beach, which is in turn 160km south of Durban. We dive to approximately 100-125ft/32-38m depth and encounter the following sharks during different seasons of the year:

Our diving at Protea Banks is conducted to the highest standards of safety and professionalism. Our boats carry oxygen as well has highly skilled skippers and dive leaders. We dive completely unprotected with wild sharks in their natural environment.

African Dive Adventures has been operating on Protea Banks since 1994, has never had any major diving accident nor shark attack whatsoever. We have a truly excellent overall track record.

We offer packages, tailormade for every individual customer or group of divers which can include dives, accommodation, transfers and transport, food, after dive activities, visits to game parks and many more services.
